Kenya Safari: The Top 5 Beaches in Mombasa

Mombasa, whose size is about 295km2, is found in Kenya and its famous for its beaches which are popular to many local as well as international tourists from around the world. Visitors are able to go on tour to the North as well as the South Coast of Mombasa to enjoy their holiday

Nyali beach is located 10km from Mombasa city on the North coast and its Kenya’s most popular beach. Many folks on holiday land in this place and you will be surprised to see a huge sea of humanity wanting to enjoy themselves. Here there are numerous coconut trees that provide cool shade to the visitors as the Indian Ocean water foam and break along the beach.

For those that love the water, they can engage in activities such as scuba diving, boat riding, sailing, surfing as well as canoeing at the Indian Ocean (though at a fee).

30 km on the southern side of Mombasa, another popular beach is the Diani. Diani stretches for 25km and you wouldn’t want to miss this place. On the north coast, we have Vipingo which is the most reclusive beach and is best for those on honeymoon and those seeking privacy. The beach is so secluded that when you walk on it, your footprints might be the only ones there! The sandy white beaches coupled with the crystal clear waters add an ambiance effect.

During the whale season, it’s the ideal viewing location. It’s a high class beach area with Vipingo Ridge golf course and posh residential houses. Water sports like surfing, diving, kayaking and sailing are availed for tourists. The beach is protected by magnificent coral reefs.

One of the most safest and unspoiled beaches in Kenya is the Watamu beach found 120km north of Mombasa city. The beach has clear waters and white sands which offers the perfect setting for a beach stroll. One is also able to view the diverse marine life in the waters including dolphins, whales, sharks and turtles.

In the evenings, one is able to see the magnificent sunset at the horizon. The water sports that one can engage in at Watamu include surfing, snorkeling and diving. We also have hotels, resorts as well as guest houses to accommodate visitors.

The last of the great beaches in Mombasa is Tiwi beach found on the southern side of Mombasa. The beach is beautiful with white sandy beaches lined with coconut trees along the peaceful Indian Ocean.

At Tiwi, one gets to enjoy and bathe in the sun and see spectacular fish species that have their home in the coral reef.
